1 year agoThis poem is SO POWERFUL. I went to a talk given by the GREAT Maya Angelou many years ago before she passed, and she owned the auditorium with her voice & her presence. What a wise & deep woman she was & I was blessed to have seen her. 💛🙏🏼🙏🏼

1 year ago@andriavanb thank you for your awesome comments. How fortunate to have heard her speak. If you haven’t read it already, her autobiography is so uplifting and inspiring. It has the same name as the poem. After reading it, I was forever a huge fan. I even came across a signed copy in Half Price Books & bought it immediately. I had it for years, then had to let it go when times got bad and it was one of the few things of value that I possessed. It’s okay. I had many years to enjoy it. 😊

1 year agoHow amazing to have had a signed copy of her autobiography, my dear friend! I'm happy you got to enjoy it. 💛 She spoke much the same as she wrote. With power, emphasis on her words carefully chosen, & commanded thought. I wish I had been older & wiser as I am now when I heard her speak. Even so, she left a profound impression on me. 💯
