Saturday Flowers hosted by our marvelous @Mama Enzina. Euonymus americanaย (strawberry bush, American strawberry bush, bursting-heart, hearts-a-bustin, and hearts-bustin-with-love) is native to the eastern United States. Its common names come from the showy warty capsules that split open to reveal red-orange seeds in the fall (shown here). Spring flowers are small and non-showy butย fall leaf color is a showy red.

@Maurice Euonymus Americana is native to wooded slopes, moist understory forest areas, low sandy woods, ravines and streambanks from New York south to Florida and west through Pennsylvania to Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and eastern Texas. Range in Missouri is limited to the far southeastern corner of the State. I donโt remember where you live. Is its range compatible?
